Adam Richard Sandler, born on September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and singer, widely regarded as one of the most iconic figures in modern comedy. Raised in a middle-class Jewish family, he grew up in New Hampshire before studying acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated in 1988. Sandler began his career performing stand-up comedy in New York clubs, where his offbeat humor quickly drew attention. His big break came when comedian Dennis Miller recommended him to the producers of Saturday Night Live, leading to his recruitment as a writer and performer in 1990. During his time on SNL (1990–1995), Sandler became one of the show’s standout stars, famous for his quirky sketches and humorous songs that made him a favorite among younger audiences.
