In 2004, Usher released his landmark album Confessions, which became one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s, with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. The album produced four consecutive Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles: “Yeah!”, “Burn”, “Confessions Part II”, and “My Boo”. Confessions has since been certified Diamond by the RIAA, cementing Usher’s legacy as one of the most successful artists in history.
His later projects, including Here I Stand (2008) and Raymond v. Raymond (2010), both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and featured hits such as “Love in This Club” and “OMG.” The companion EP Versus (2010) added another global hit, “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love.” His albums Looking 4 Myself (2012) and Hard II Love (2016) continued his chart success, spawning singles like “Scream” and “Climax,” the latter earning him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance.
Over his career, Usher has sold over 43 million albums and 75 million records worldwide, including 23.8 million albums and 38.2 million digital songs in the U.S. alone. He has earned 8 Grammy Awards, 18 Billboard Music Awards, and numerous other honors. In 2009, Billboard named him the No. 2 Artist of the 2000s decade, the Top Hot 100 Artist of the 2000s, and ranked Confessions as the decade’s No. 1 solo album. Usher has achieved 9 Billboard Hot 100 No.1 singles and is consistently listed among the Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of All Time.
Beyond music, Usher is recognized as a cultural icon, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. He co-founded Raymond-Braun Media Group (RBMG) in 2008 with talent manager Scooter Braun, which helped launch the career of Justin Bieber.
In recent years, Usher has continued to expand his legacy through performances, mentorship, and business ventures. His Las Vegas residency (2021–2024) received widespread acclaim, and in 2024, he headlined the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, earning praise for one of the most dynamic performances of his career.
Today, Usher remains a defining figure in contemporary music — blending R&B, pop, and dance with timeless artistry, innovation, and influence across generations.
