Kadim Jabbar Al Samarai, known professionally as Kadim Al Sahir (كاظم الساهر), is an Iraqi singer, composer, and songwriter, born on September 12, 1957, in Mosul, Iraq. He is widely known as “The Caesar of Arabic Song” and “Iraq’s Ambassador to the World”, thanks to his profound influence on Arabic music and his poetic, emotional style.

From a young age, Kadim showed great passion for music and poetry. He studied at the Baghdad Institute of Music, where he learned composition and classical techniques. He wrote his first song at the age of twelve and composed his first major work at twenty-one.

His breakthrough came in the 1980s with the song “Ladghat El Hayya” (The Snake Bite), which brought him national fame for its daring lyrics and bold composition. In the 1990s, Kadim became a true icon across the Arab world with timeless hits such as “Zidini Ishqan,” “Ahibbini,” “Ana Wa Laila,” “Ha Habibi,” and “Madrasat Al Hob.”

Kadim is celebrated for his collaboration with the renowned Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, whose romantic and philosophical poetry he transformed into unforgettable musical masterpieces. Together, they elevated Arabic music to new levels of emotional and artistic sophistication.

Over his career, Kadim Al Sahir has released more than 20 albums and performed in over 50 countries, from the Middle East to Europe and North America. His music combines classical Arabic melodies with modern orchestration, creating a unique and timeless sound that bridges generations.

Kadim has received numerous awards for his contributions to Arabic culture and music, including recognition from UNICEF, where he was appointed a UNICEF Ambassador for Iraq in 2011 for his humanitarian efforts.

Today, Kadim Al Sahir remains one of the most respected and beloved artists in the Arab world, admired not only for his talent but also for his integrity, cultural pride, and dedication to the beauty of Arabic poetry and music.
