Shawn Corey Carter, known professionally as JAY-Z, was born on December 4, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York. He is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and record executive, widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists and businessmen in music history.

JAY-Z is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with over 100 million records sold. He has won 24 Grammy Awards, more than any other rapper, and in 2006, MTV named him the « Greatest MC of All Time ». Three of his most iconic albums — Reasonable Doubt (1996), The Blueprint (2001), and The Black Album (2003) — were ranked among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

As of recent estimates, JAY-Z’s net worth has surpassed $2.5 billion, making him the first hip-hop billionaire and one of the wealthiest artists in the world.

Beyond music, JAY-Z is a savvy businessman. He co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records, served as president of Def Jam Recordings, and founded Roc Nation, a full-service entertainment company. He also established Roc Nation Sports, representing top athletes across multiple sports leagues, and is a certified NBA and MLB sports agent. Additionally, he co-created the successful clothing brand Rocawear and owns the upscale sports bar 40/40 Club in New York City.
