Tiësto (real name Tijs Michiel Verwest, born January 17, 1969, in Breda, Netherlands) is a Dutch DJ, record producer, and electronic music pioneer, widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful figures in the history of dance and electronic music. Often referred to as the “Godfather of EDM”, Tiësto has been at the forefront of the global electronic scene for more than two decades, constantly evolving his sound and inspiring generations of DJs and producers.

He began his career in the late 1980s, performing at small clubs in the Netherlands, before gaining recognition in the 1990s for his powerful trance productions and remixes. His breakthrough came in 2000 with his remix of Delerium’s “Silence” featuring Sarah McLachlan — a track that became an international club anthem and helped introduce trance music to a wider audience.

In 2001, Tiësto released his debut studio album, In My Memory, which included hits such as “Lethal Industry”, “Flight 643”, and “Suburban Knights”. The album cemented his status as a leading figure in trance music. His next albums, Just Be (2004) and Elements of Life (2007), solidified his place among the world’s top DJs, with tracks like “Adagio for Strings”, “Love Comes Again”, and “Dance4Life” becoming festival favorites.
