Assi El Hallani

Mohammed Muzen El Hallani, known professionally as Assi El Hallani, was born on November 28, 1970 in Baalbek, Lebanon.
Coming from a large family in Baalbek, he was the third youngest among many siblings and displayed musical talent from an early age.

He moved to Beirut in his youth to further his musical education, studying at the Higher Institute of Music where he specialized in the oud and classical Arabic vocal techniques.
At age 17, he rose to prominence when he participated in the Lebanese TV talent show Studio El Fann (or “Studio al Fan”) and won, which marked the beginning of his professional career.

Assi adopted his stage-name “Assi” — a reference both to the rebellious Lebanese Assi river and as an homage to the renowned Lebanese musician Assi Rahbani.

Over the years, Assi El Hallani has become one of the most celebrated Lebanese and Arab singers. He is noted for his powerful voice and his style that often draws from “jabali” (mountain-village) themes, reflecting his Baalbek origins and the folkloric roots of his music.

His discography spans more than two decades and includes more than 20 albums. Among his best-known songs are “Wani Mareg Mareit”, “Mali Saber Ya Nas”, and “Bel Arabi” — tracks that solidified his status across the Arab world.

Assi is also a performer of international renown: he has appeared at major festivals and venues including the Mawazine Rythmes du Monde in Morocco and the Baalbek International Festival in Lebanon, among many others.

Beyond his music, he is known for his humanitarian engagement, participating in fundraising concerts and supporting initiatives to fight hunger and poverty in the region.
